Before we begin, I would like us to take in a little Practical.
I want you to.
- Suck in a deep breath. So that your stomach goes all the way in
- I want you to take a look at your stomach then; The sides, the front and the lower part.
- Then I want you to release that breath and push your stomach out as further as possible.
- Take a look at the front, top, lower and side belly; The sides, the front and the lower part.
- Now that you have done that, relax.
- Look at your stomach once more; The sides, the front and the lower part.
You will notice that when you sucked in, it seemed your stomach reduced.
Who wouldn’t love to have a sucked in stomach like that 24/7?
But is it possible?
Also you notice that when your stomach was pushed out, it looked quite terryfying. But it didn’t stay that way.
It returned to ‘normal’ afterwards.
This brings me to explain the difference between Stomach and Belly(Abdomen).

Your stomach is not your Abdomen
It is common to confuse your stomach with your abdomen.
The stomach is an internal organ. Just like your kidney, liver and heart.
It is designed in a way like a balloon.
That is why, when you are hungry, your stomach seems so flat. And after a meal it looks like a ball.
Don’t be scared though, your stomach always retracts back to its normal size or what seems to be it’s normal size.
Your abdomen on the other hand is the trunk that contains your stomach, intestines, liver, kidney and a host of other important or unnecessarily things.
So your stomach is not your abdomen.
You stomach is in your abdomen (belly).
Which leads me to the questions,
Where is the fat coming from?
Where exactly is the fat? Stomach or Belly?
Where is the fat coming from?
Fats comes from food through the stomach and fat genes through the blood.
That’s why a child can be fat from birth or can inherit fat genes from the parents.
Where Exactly is the fat?
The fat is everywhere!
But mostly in the belly, arms, below the chin, thighs, buttocks.
It is however, important to know that fat is everywhere your blood is.
Solid fats stay under your flesh. They accumulate there. Mostly in your belly.
There no human being without fats in their body.
Which leads me to another question.
Are body fats good or bad?
Fat is not bad. It is excess of fat that is bad, especially in the focal areas of fat cells in the body. For example, belly.
You have to understand that even though fat is not bad, as it provides the body with heat, there are two types of fat.
Good/Favorable fats (Hdl)
And
Bad/Unfavorable fats (Ldl)
I will be explaining more on that during the major Fitness program as well as different food containing good or bad fat.

Why do you still not have abs or flat stomach?
A. Little or no exercise
B. I eat too much.
C. Both.
(You can leave answers in the comment box)
Now the major causes of big belly are
Eating wrong:
You are mostly likely eating all the wrong food (fried foods/junks), or eating the right food at the wrong time. (dinner past 8pm)
This can affect your body’s digestion process or just create more fat in your body.
Little/Bad Exercises:
Few people know that the Sit Up Exercise is not effective for many. (Especially those with big stomach.)
I recommend crunches more for my clients.
Also not giving in the proper amount of exercises in a week can greatly force your abs progress to regress.
Bad habits:
I have a friend who workouts hard; Aerobics and all. She is very fit. But her lower belly fat refuses to disappear no matter what we tried. I later discovered it was her love for beer all the time that caused it.
Many bad habits hinder your progress to be fit or get in shape. This is why with my clients, I advice them to stay off beer or alcohol for the duration of our program.
Stress:
Stress makes you stress eat.
It can also affect your body system to work abnormally, affecting digestion.
I encourage my clients to sleep well, get enough rest and BREATHE.
(During the main Fitness Class, I will be addressing all your problems.
Hopefully, with your cooperation, we can find a way out for you.)
Finally, I want to explain how your Stomach and Belly works together with your diet.
Gluttony is a mind trick
I say this many times and I will explain it.
Psychologically, when you are sad or feeling empty, there seems to be a need to fill up that part of your life with food. That’s why depression/stress mostly lead to weight gain.
Also, the amount of food your body needs per meal is the size of your fist. Anything more is just extra.
When eating you have to admit that there’s a stomach gauge and it feels something like this:
Level 1: too little food
Level 2: not enough food
Level 3: Enough (that you can stand up and still feel light enough to talk a walk)
Level 4: A little more (the food is pretty delicious. You might stand up slowy after eating).
Level 5: I must finish this! (You can’t stand up immediately. You have to sit down a while after eating).
What level do you think you get to when eating?
(You can leave answer in the comment section)
Level 4 &5 is the voice of the Big Belly Monster talking to you.
Please stop using your stomach size to gauge the amount of food you have to eat. It’s wrong.
A bigger Abdomen give your stomach (organ) ample space to swell.
The smaller your abdomen/tighter the abdominal walls, the more limitation you give your stomach to swell.
But as I said, gluttony is a mind trick, it doesn’t matter if you have 6pacs or flat stomach or pot belly, if you don’t control your mind towards food, you will injure your body.
To round up this lecture.
I will say:
Your stomach is not your belly.
Both needs to be worked on.
It is more that just food, it’s stress and bad habits as well.
Starving will not solve your belly fat problem. Neither would exercises alone or dieting alone. You need exercises and diet with proper coaching.
